Panic Attacks increase over Christmas

Your heart starts to pound and your breathing is shallower and difficult. You are finding it hard to focus and your palms are sweating.   You are suffering from a panic attack.

Kent based company has noticed an increase in clients suffering from panic attacks, and the numbers are expected to increase as we approach Christmas.  Christmas time is a stressful time and people find it hard to cope, especially if finances are an issue.

"There is no doubt that panic attacks are on the increase." says hypnotherapist, Vincent Benedict.   "Anxiety problems have been around for some time but it is now getting overwhelming.   Increase in workplace stress, people work longer hours and expectations from them are too high.   People have forgotten how to relax properly and turn to quick fix cures like drinking alcohol, which can make panic attacks worse."

In many cases, people don't realise that they are suffering from stress until they have a panic attack out of the blue.  It is like a warning signal from the body that you are under too much pressure.   Women are also more likely to suffer.   Some experts believe that this is so because women have a more stressful role in life.  Others believe that female numbers are high because they are more likely to ask for help.

So, what can you do:

1.  Don't wait till you get your first panic attack.  Learn to relax now either by taking up a hobby or physical activity.
2.  Have a look at your diet.  Are you living on takeaways and junk foods.  Cut down on coffees and drink more water.
3.  Learn to spend at least 15 minutes a day in complete relaxation.   Go to, scroll to near bottom of page, and listen to the mp3 recording.   It is a free relaxation recording which you can listen to at any time.   Regular use will help you in your daily life.
4.  If you do have a panic attack, the first step is always to visit the doctor.  Eliminate all other possibilites before visiting a qualified therapist.
4.  Panic attacks are treatable.  Find a therapist who has experience of panic attacks, and start fighting back!

Losing Weight for your Wedding

A wedding day is undoubtedly one of the most important days in a woman’s life.   There is no bigger motivator to action than knowing that you will be getting married in less than a year’s time…and there will be hundreds of guests looking at your backside.   Looking your best on your special day invariably means achieving your desired weight; what could be worse than struggling to fit into your wedding dress.   Sadly most women will choose the latest fad diet, despite failed experiences of dieting.   Experts state over and over again that diets don’t work.   What does work is a healthy relationship with food and a regular amount of exercise.

At, we have developed the 8 Steps to Permanent Weight Loss which guarantees a minimum of 16lbs weight loss, if you finish the 8 sessions.   We address your relationship with food, tackle any addictions to cake/chocolate etc, and increase your motivation to exercise.   Best of all, we give you the tools to ensure that you never put this weight back on again.   Don’t you want to keep on looking your best for your new husband?   We also appreciate that preparing for your big day is a stressful situation and, therefore, we will also show you ways to keep these emotions under control.

Here are a few tips to ensure that you look your best, on that one day:

1.    Work out a plan.   How long is it till the wedding and how much weight do you need to lose by then?  Deduct the desired weight loss by the number of months remaining, and this will tell you how much you need to lose per month.   You should be aiming to lose between 1 and 2 lbs per week.   Anything more, and you will probably put it back on.
2.    Get support.   A lot of your guests will also be trying to lose weight.   Why not do it together and motivate each other?
3.    Stop dieting and counting calories.   Slimming clubs are full of failed dieters!   Eat healthily and only when you are hungry.   Next time you are about to eat, ask yourself:
“Am I eating because I am hungry, or because I want to change the way I feel?”

"I desperately needed to lose weight for my sons wedding in June. With the help and guidance of Vince I have managed to lose 17lbs. I have tried many diets over the years but have always put the weight back on. Hypnosis has taught me to eat sensibly and encouraged me to use my WII Fit enabling me to be more active. I would recommend hypnosis for anyone."
Norma, Kent

4.     Pre-wedding parties.   Ensure that you are able to eat healthily and monitor any alcohol intake.   Better still, attend these parties accompanied by people who are also trying to lose weight.
5.    Eat breakfast.   This will increase your metabolism and ensure you eat proper foods during the day.
6.    Control stress.   You can do this by proper organisation and, maybe, asking a friend to help with the planning.   Better still, get a professional Wedding Planner to take over the organisation.   Think how you would feel knowing that a professional was ensuring that everything would be perfect for the day.   Please email me on and we will recommend a Wedding Planner to you.
7.    Making speeches can be stressful, especially for the Best Man.   Good preparation and lots of practice can ensure that guests come up to you later in the day, and congratulate you on your speech.

The above are just a small number of tips to ensure that you have a great day.   You need to look and feel your best, so it is worth doing properly.

At Hypnosolution, we are able to ensure that you look and feel amazing on the most important day of your life.   Give me a ring on 077 8215 8008 or email on to discuss ways in which I may be able to help you.   We offer a free consultation service and very competitive rates.

Self-evaluate before deciding to lose weight

One of the biggest blocks to weight loss is unwillingness to take responsibility.   Do you really think you cannot control your eating; that you do not have a choice?   Or is it simply that you love to eat too much?   This was the case with "Susan", who was sent to me by her children.   They believed she needed to lose weight.   She didn't.   End of story.

Grudgingly, she attended her sessons.   In her second session, "Susan" revealed to me that she had no intention of changing her behaviour.  That she liked herself the way she was and that was that.   We agreed to end the session there and then, with the understanding that I, as a therapist, simply don't have the ability to make someone do something that they don't want to do.

If you want to stop overeating, examine your motivation.   Are you changing your behaviour because you think you should, or because you really want to?   A little self-evaluation goes a long way when we want to make life changes.

Stop Dieting Today...

If you continue to diet, you will gain weight and keep it on for life...

It amazes me that people continually go on diets, even though they have failed numerous times in the past.   When you learn about metabolism and how it works, I  think you will quickly see that you must simply give up dieting, address your issues, and change your whole way of thinking.

Remember, it works like this: if you starve your body, it goes into self-preservation mode, also known as "fat storage" mode.   Your metabolism will slow right down and you will feel sluggish and completely uninterested in exercise or any other kind of activity.   This is because when you are starving yourself, your body will try to compensate by shutting down your metabolism.   It wants to conserve energy, so it will slow all your energy systems down to a minimum and convert everything it can into fat (stored energy) in your body.

On the other hand, if you only eat when you are hungry, your body learns that it has plenty of fuel.   It increases your metabolism and your body will use your energy quickly and efficiently, because it knows that the energy can be replaced as needed.   There is no need to store any fat reserves.   You will not only be thinner but have lots more energy.

A lot of what we should be doing goes back to our caveman days.   They ate when they were hungry and didn't have set times.   Over many thousands of years, we have picked up poor habits and are now suffering the consequences.

The above is just one technique to help you get into the shape you want to be.   Contact me through to discuss how i can get you motivated.   I will not ask for your contact details and you will not be allowed to make an appointment during the first call.   Let's discuss your positive intention, and if you want to change the way you look, you can phone me back after you have thought about it to make an appointment.

Public Speaking

Does the thought of speaking in public leave you with butterflies in your stomach and your legs feeling like jelly?
Public speaking, making presentations, giving a talk, making a speech - however it's described,  it can be a terrifying experience for many, if not most, people. This could be addressing a small group of colleagues in a business meeting, giving a presentation to three or four customers, talking in a committee or team setting, or giving the best man's speech at a wedding.

Many people feel anxious about giving a formal talk or presentation and have a real phobia of speaking in public. This is backed up by fear of public speaking research. In a survey in the USA, where 3,000 adults were asked to list their ten worst fears, public speaking emerged as the number one fear - above even fears of death and financial ruin! (Christine Stuart, "Effective Speaking")

Why is public speaking such a source of anxiety? Here are some of the main possible reasons for this "stage fright":

*   Unfamiliar situation - because most people speak formally to an audience only rarely, the novelty of the situation is   a cause of apprehension.
*   Lack of confidence - stems often from a feeling that others are better speakers than ourselves, or that they know more about the topic in question.
*   Sense of isolation - the speaker is alone and vulnerable.
*   Self-consciousness - about our accent, grammar, voice and image generally.
*   Fear of looking foolish - we may worry that we will forget what we wanted to say, and will stumble over our words, or will say the "wrong" thing.

The fear of public speaking, which is a form of social phobia, is of course irrational but is all too real to those who suffer from it. The good news is that hypnotherapy can help you to get over public speaking anxiety by using the power of your own subconscious mind.

Hypnosis can help with building up your confidence, helping you to remain calm and relaxed. You can learn how to recognise your body's unique reaction to stress and anxiety and to develop new healthy and positive ways of thinking and feeling. Deep relaxation techniques used in hypnosis help you to focus inwards and start to build your feeling of confidence, calm and self-belief.

In hypnotherapy, you may use visualisation techniques, using the power of your imagination to rehearse or practice a speech or presentation in your mind. By doing so you will have already experienced the feeling of delivering a great performance, and your mind has been pre-programmed for success. With your feelings of confidence and control restored, public speaking can be approached with a new level of calmness and assurance.

Here are some ideas for overcoming the fear of public speaking:

*   Working with a hypnotherapist who understands your fear is one way for you to become calmer, more relaxed and more confident the next time you are asked to speak up.
*   If seeing a hypnotherapist in person is not for you, a public speaking hypnosis CD is a good alternative.
*   If you need to make regular presentations, a good public speaking course may be a worthwhile investment to improve your presentation skills.
*   Joining a speakers' club will give you the opportunity to hone your public speaking skills and get valuable practice and feedback from other members.

Imagine if, instead of turning to jelly, you could learn to enjoy speaking in public and even look forward to it, writing your own speeches and presentations and most importantly, getting your thoughts across in a calm, assertive and impressive manner.

Babies don't smoke cigarettes!

The chemicals in cigarette smoke reduce the amount of oxygen your baby gets through its umbilical cord, which makes the baby's heart beat faster, resulting in your baby growing more slowly.   Your baby will weigh less, which isn't healthy, because smaller babies are much more likely to catch infections and diseases.

If you start smoking again after your baby's birth, every cigarette you or your partner smokes directly affects your child's health.   The child is breathing in the smoke from the end of your cigarette, which contains a very high level of tar, nicotine and carbon monoxide.   Simply breathing in the smoke is a health risk.

It is recorded that children of smokers suffer many of the same health risks as the adult who has actually lit the cigarette.   Children who live with smokers are twice as likely to spend time in hospital for chest illnesses such as bronchitis and pneumonia, asthma and wheezing, and even ear infections.

More time will be spent caring for a sick child and time will be lost from school with sickness.   The moment you stop smoking you begin helping your baby have a better chance of survival and health.

Merely cutting back smoking has little effect on the welfare of your baby.   Each puff allows thousands of deadly chemicals to enter your baby's bloodstream.

You can depend on the chemicals below existing in your cigarettes, chemicals that you will be giving to your child.   Chemicals that you will be subjecting your baby to, as well as yourself, are:

Carbon monoxide - the lethal gas that comes out of car exhausts.
Cyanide - an extremely poisonous substance and slow killer.
Butane - used to fuel cigarette lighters.
Ammonia - found in household cleaners.

De-stress Technique - Your First Day on Earth

*   Imagine this is your first day on earth.  You have just arrived here and you are looking at all the things you have in your life.   You thought you had nothing but you can see that there are people who love you and you have many things in your life.   You can see that you live somewhere that keeps you sheltered and warm.   Maybe you have the use of a car which gets you around?   You have enough money to buy food and clothes.   From expecting to arrive with nothing, you can see that you actually have quite a lot.

*   If you regularly use the "my first day" scenario, it will help you to see that you have many things in your life worth valuing, and this will help you tto feel more fortunate.   Close your eyes and focus now on all the good things in your life.   Continue in your daily life to be thankful and feel blessed for these positives in your life.

Address your phobia today...

Phobias can affect anyone, regardless of their income , social status or intelligence.   It is estimated that one in four people are affected by a phobia, and there are literally hundreds of different types of phobias.

Most people think that their phobia is different and will not respond to treatment.   Research shows that any specific phobia can be treated regardless of the age when it began, its severity and whether there is a history of phobias in your family.   Many people live in denial about their phobia, ashamed to admit they even have one, let alone talk about the extent of their suffering, and inconvenience it causes.

The problem with the avoidance strategy is that it actually strengthens the phobia.   When you take ownership of your phobia, the closer you will be to conquering it.

Many people will go to their local doctor and be prescribed medication to fix their phobia.   Medication works by suppressing, and hence avoiding, the feelings of fear associated with confronting their phobia.   The problem with this solution is that once the medication wears off, the phobic feelings return.   The result is that you take another pill and the cycle continues without you ever having addressed the main issue, namely that the phobia is learned.

To manage your phobia, you need to understand your phobic stimulus.   Most clients I meet do not really know much about the situation or thing they are afraid of, due to avoidance triggered by phobia safety behaviour.   As a result, their minds fill in the blanks and make the fear worse.

"It's not the spider you are afraid of, but your reaction to the spider..."

The most common way for a phobia to develop is after a traumatic event.   A person learns to associate that event (or an element of it) with potential danger and develops a phobia of it.   To “unlearn” your phobia, you need to utilise the power of direct personal experience.   However, before you do this, I will have spent some time preparing you for this, and you will not be alone when this happens.   The lack of personal direct experience is the reason why so- called phobia “cures” such as healing crystals, dietary changes, and thinking happy thoughts have not been proven to fix phobias.

At Hypnosolution, we use a combination of hypnotherapy and neurolinguistic programming to relax the client and get him used to visualizing the phobia.   This gets him/her used to experiencing and understanding what happens to their subconscious when they are faced with whatever is causing them to panic.   The client then decides when he is able to face their fear, and he does this at his own pace e.g. someone who is scared of rats may start by looking at pictures of rats.

The first step to ridding yourself of this weight round your neck is to ring Hypnosolution on 07782158008 and discuss your problem, and ways you can be helped.   Do it today and take the first step.
